9/11 Truth is the major theme in The American Truth. The 9/11 Truth issues refer to the belief that the official account of the 9/11 attacks reported by the U.S. government and mainstream media are not entirely correct.
The amount of credible evidence and eyewitness testimony that highlights controversies and coincidences have caused many to question the official account and become members of the 9/11 Truth Movement. Most members of the 9/11 Truth Movement come to the conclusion that the U.S. government either allowed the attacks to happen or played a part in orchestrating the attacks in order to carry out other political plans.
The plot in The American Truth follows Nathan Alexander’s pursuit in forming a conclusion about the 9/11 truth issues. Nathan's character is involved in 9/11 attacks in many ways - he loses his wife in the tragedy and narrowly escapes from the Pentagon himself; he writes several reports for the Pentagon concerning the Islamic terrorists involvement in the attacks, and as a former Naval officer who comes from a family rich in military experience, he feels it is his duty to protect America from all external and internal threats.
Like most people’s first reaction to the 9/11 truth issues, Nathan brushes them aside as being “crazy conspiracies” that people make to justify a dramatic tragedy that has no logical explanation. But he eventually comes across several anomalies and questions that are raised by 9/11 Truth supporters that make him start questioning his prior convictions. After researching into the 9/11 Truth issues, he discovers that 9/11 Truth is not just a group of “tin-foil hat conspiracy-nuts,” but is a group of citizens from diverse backgrounds that adhere to research conducted by prominent scientists, architects, engineers, and scholars.
As Nathan researches more into the 9/11 Truth issues, he becomes convinced that the U.S. government has something that is hiding. In hindsight, he looks at the wars in the Middle East and policies by the current administration, and he sees the obvious motives for staging a false-flag terrorist event. He feels upset at the thought of being misled by his own government and is motivated to inform others of the 9/11 Truth issues so that they can at least be aware of what could have happened. Nathan realizes how much the 9/11 attacks and threat of “terrorism” play in current politics, and he feels like the truth behind these attacks must come out in order to assure what is best for America and the global community.
